Darius describes it as ground hog day – and for most people living with vitiligo – this is exactly what it’s like.
This documentary is conveniently called VitiLIEgo. It’s a snippet and good example of what it’s like to live with the disorder.
Although the documentary is moving, I can honestly say it’s the best one I’ve seen that addresses vitiligo and I urge you all to watch it. It really highlights the reasons why living with vitiligo is hard: the emotional strain caused by the world we live in, the expectations of how we should all look, and unfortunately – the pressure caused by people who can’t help but notice we look different… And choose to make an issue out of it.
My only comment is that having vitiligo doesn’t necessarily mean there are no happy endings. But I guess that comes with finding and knowing your coping mechanism. For me that’s trying all different kinds of treatments (that I secretly know probably won’t work) for that pure satisfaction of knowing I’m trying my best. For others it may be diets, a never-ending search for better make-up or just being happy with it ‘au natural’.
BTW – Darius is gawgus isn’t he girls?
